What I check
Every item is measured on your live site and reported with the actual number, so you can verify any of it yourself.
- How long the page takes to load Server response time and total download size. Homepages of 7 MB and up are common, and on a phone that is several seconds of blank screen.
- Whether it works on a phone Sites built before roughly 2015 often render at desktop width, so visitors have to pinch and zoom. Most local searches happen on a phone.
- Whether browsers trust it No HTTPS means Chrome, Safari and Firefox all show "Not secure" in the address bar to every visitor.
- Links that go nowhere Dead pages on a live site — including, more often than you would think, the page where customers pay you.
- How you appear in Google The clickable headline and description in search results, and whether Google can work out your hours and service area.
- Images nobody can find Photos with no alt text are invisible to Google Image search and to anyone using a screen reader.

Larger work — migrating a slow site to better hosting, or rebuilding something genuinely broken — I will tell you honestly and quote it separately rather than pretending it fits in a flat fee.
Reasonable questions
- Do you need my passwords?
- No, and please never send them. You create me an ordinary admin account on your site and delete it when the work is finished.
- Will my site look different?
- No. Nearly all of this is under the surface — image sizes, page settings, tags Google reads. Your photos and layout stay as they are.
- What if something breaks?
- I take a full backup before touching anything, so the site can be put back exactly as it was.
- My nephew built it. Is this going to insult him?
- Not at all. Most of what I fix is settings and file sizes that drift out of date on any site. You are welcome to hand him the audit instead.
